Camo airbrushed on

I just finished airbrushing the beige camo on, and the results were largely good. The only problem is that the masking tape lifted some of the paint off of some areas of resin. I scrubbed and scrubbed the resin as best as I could, but I couldn't completely get rid of the semi glossy surface. Evidently, the paint just didn't stick that well to it. Hopefully a matte varnish coat will help hold the paint down for good. We'll see...

Here's some photos of the finished masking, after spraying, and the end result. Getting close to completion! :)

  1. Looking good Jeff!

I've been wanting to try on the airbrush, since I'm starting on IG soon. I'm gettin excited just by witnessing your painting progress!

  2. I highly recommend getting an airbrush- once you learn the basics it's not that hard at all. The effects I've been able to manage thus far are just not possible with spray cans or paintbrushing

  3. Try using a resin primer instead of GW sprays for undercoats. It generally has better adhesive qualities for resin. Just be more careful when applying it because it very easy to apply too much. Also u MAY want to try applying a layer of matt finish between coats of paints. Gloss if u intend to do inking with oils (Not washes but lining)

  4. That's great advice. I'm actually getting ready to do the oil line inking around joints and rivets right now, and I will indeed be giving the whole thing a gloss varnish first.

Do you have a particular resin primer you can recommend that is available locally?
